In 1941 at the age of 18 Dick Watson Sr. joined the R.C.A.F. and went to serve his country. After four years of flying fighter planes and being shot down three times, he returned home in 1945 as a war hero. It was at this time that he decided to fulfill his dreams of starting a tourism business on Kabinakagami Lake using his military earnings. Dick and his wife Edna married in 1946 and together they began to build their future at Pine Portage Lodge.

The Odum Party

The Odum Party was with us in July and had a great time. We did hear that they were pretty hard on their Guide though. After he took this picture he fell and hurt his back, but bounced back just fine. Hope you have a lot of good memories of this trip and we will see all of you back in 2010. We would also like to thank them for their kind words and to let them know that it is a pleasure to meet people like them. Thanks for sending the nice picture :)

July 29/09

Thank you for the wonderful week last week. The staff, the facilities, the food and the weather were all aligned into a Perfect Storm of fabulous proportions. Even though I cannot give you credit for the later listed item I can give you credit for the others. It has to be a tough job to maintain the staff and equipment at such a high level at that latitude. Your dedication shows.
