Lodge History

Pine Portage Lodge located on Kabinakagami Lake, Watson's Algoma Vacations year round Reservation office 1-800-363-4443 is located in Wawa, Ontario, Canada
In 1941 at the age of 18 Dick Watson Sr. joined the R.C.A.F. and went to serve his country. After four years of flying fighter planes and being shot down three times, he returned home in 1945 as a war hero. It was at this time that he decided to fulfill his dreams of starting a tourism business on Kabinakagami Lake using his military earnings. Dick and his wife Edna married in 1946 and together they began to build their future at Pine Portage Lodge.

WHAT'S THIS "THE BOSS FISHING"

Ok, Ok, we even get to fish sometimes. This was caught in less than an hour of fishing. The weather was not to bad and obviously the fishing great as usual and the shorelunch was exceptional (but of course Bill, since Betty was there to help). So call the office pack up your fishing rod & gear and get ready for some great fishing at Pine Portage Lodge on Kaby Lake. We would love to have you!!!!!

Great catch Fred, good thing your wife was taking the picture!!!

"WHERE MEMORIES ARE MADE & FAMILIY TRADITIONS CONTINUE"

Well another trip down and another to look forward to in 2010. Even though the weather was tough they where tougher. The Brown party I am sure will agree that it was well worth it. Out on the lake for 2 1/2 days they limited out on walleye each day, ate fresh fish cooked on an open fire.

What a catch Andrew R. his

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A FEW HOURS MAKE

Well believe it or not these pictures where taken May 17th also a few hours after the last post, what a difference a few hours make. This morning the ground was covered with the "white stuff" than the sun pop out and look what happened. Even though it was cool the sun made it warm enough for a great day on the Lake. The fishing was fantastic and the catch of the day was made by Daniel R. with some help from his boat partner Chas B. to get it in the boat. Daniel's walleye weighing in at 5.7 lb. 27.5 in. It sure is good seeing the boys out fishing the men.

GREAT JOB BOYS!!!

Did you say it's "MAY"

Yes, we did say it is May 17th opening weekend of Walleye, even though it looks more like October opening of Moose Hunt. But I guess we can't get everything we ask for. We asked for good weather well obviously we didn't get that. We asked for good fishing and we definately got that. Our hardy fisherman went out to brave the storm and where not disappointed, the weather wasn't the best but the fishing was great. They caught tons of fish and had a great shorelunch cooked over a nice hot fire that also warmed them up. After a day out in the cold our fisherman are looking forward to coming back to the lodge to a warm, warm cabin and some hot, hot coffee or hot chocolate and a nice home cooked meal.
Nothing keeps us off the lake!!!!
So lets go fish'n'
"Snow" or Shine we won't be left behind!!!

"ARE YOUR FISHING POLES READY"

Well it is now May 12th and we are just about ready to receive our first guests at PINE PORATAGE LODGE. We now have our Turbine Otter and Cessna 206 here at our base on Wawa Lake, with our Caravan arriving tomorrow. We have been busy this week flying in all the staff, supplies and groceries. Our first groups are scheduled to fly in on Friday May 15th to get ready for opening Walleye on Saturday. The ice has finally all disappeared from Kaby Lake. Believe it or not there was still a bit of ice on the bigger part of the lake up to last week, but now all is clear and we are ready to go. So make sure all your fishing rods are ready with new line and don't forget those Lucky Lures.

SEE YOU IN A COUPLE OF DAYS!!!!!!
