Pine Portage Lodge located on Kabinakagami Lake, Watson's Algoma Vacations year round Reservation office 1-800-363-4443 is located in Wawa, Ontario, Canada
In 1941 at the age of 18 Dick Watson Sr. joined the R.C.A.F. and went to serve his country. After four years of flying fighter planes and being shot down three times, he returned home in 1945 as a war hero. It was at this time that he decided to fulfill his dreams of starting a tourism business on Kabinakagami Lake using his military earnings. Dick and his wife Edna married in 1946 and together they began to build their future at Pine Portage Lodge.

CONRAD PARTY 2009 FISHING VACATION

PiNe PoRtAgE LoDgE 2009

Don Hill Jr. of McClure, Ohio caught his biggest fish on Saturday, August 8th/09 at Pine Portage Lodge. He was fishing in the Burnt Bay area, which is the biggest weed bed in Kaby Lake. Apparently he was fishing with just a 1/4 oz Jig head and he thought he had got hung up on some weeds, until the weeds started pulling back than the "Fight began". His reel broke, so his boat partner helped to start pulling him in by hand. When Northern Pike got close enough they got the head in the net but as you can see the body wouldn't fit. Once they where sure they had half of him in the net they just flung the net and all into the boat. What excitement, we entered Don in the O.F.A.H. Ontario Anglers Awards so we will see what happens. Don also celebrated his birthday here at the Lodge on August 10/o9. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON!!!

Don's biggest fish
Northern Pike weighing in at 20# 47"

Don, myself and some other guests tried to release the fish but to no avail, sometimes the older fish get stressed out and are unable to revive.

Terry Vollmar also with the Conrad Party caught this nice one weighing in at 11.5# 41". He was successfull in releasing him back into the water for another day.

We will keep a space opened below for Mr. Conrad, today is their last day and he promised me another great picture?

Ok, Mr. Conrad so what was your excuse, you promised a "Big One"today, but unless this is trick photography I don't see any FISH!!!! I told you to use the Muskey Lure. But thats Ok Terry put his back so you can catch his next year.

It was great fun harassing you guys. Hope you all enjoyed yourselves and thanks for letting me take your pictures.
